For many more things to do in Delhi, where to stay, and delicious food to eat, check out my Delhi Travel Guide: https://migrationology.com/store/delhi-travel-guide/ (click the link)! Delhi, India, (नई दिल्ली) is the national capital of the country and has a metropolitan population of around 22 million residents. The city is ancient, it's been around since the 6th century BC so there are many historical and cultural places to visit. That's specifically why I created this list of 21 things to do in Delhi, to help you plan and get excited about visiting Delhi, India. 1. The Lotus Temple (Bahá'í House of Worship) - The temple is in the shape of a giant lotus and on the inside is a peaceful sanctuary where you can enter and sit in silence for as long as you like. 2. ISKCON Hare Krishna Temple - I had never seen a temple like this before, so it as an interesting experience to hear the music and walk around the interior of the temple. 3. Kalkaji Mandir Hindu Temple - This temple is a very important Hindu temple in Delhi and while I was there, there were a number of babies being dedicated by being decorated and blessed. 4. Jama Masjid - Located in Old Delhi, Jama Masjid is the largest mosque in all of Delhi. Though they will attempt to get money from you, it's free to enter the mosque, but if you want to take photos inside they will charge you 300 rupees. 5. Akshardham Temple - This modern Hindu temple located on the outskirts of Delhi literally made my jaw drop, it's that amazing. It's free to enter, but unfortunately, they don't allow any photography inside. This is one of the things to do in Delhi that you cannot afford to miss! 6. Gurudwara Bangla Sahib (Sikh Temple) - Unlike some other sites in Delhi where you'll find many touts and hustlers, the Gurdwara Sikh Temple is about the nicest and most friendly place you can go in Delhi. People are extremely nice and you can enter the temple to listen to music. 7. Laxmi Narayan Mandir -- Dedicated by Mahatma Gandhi, this is one of the most significant Hindu temples in Delhi. 8. Hauz Khas Complex - I'm always amazed at the history of Delhi and Hauz Khas is an excellent example of ancient monuments in the middle of a public park. 9. Lodi Gardens - As a free entrance public park, visiting the Lodi Gardens is one of the most amazing things to do in Delhi. It's just like an ordinary park, but it's filled with thousand year old tombs and monuments that are truly inspirational. 10. India Gate - The war memorial is one of the landmarks of Delhi and resembles the famous Arc de Triomphe in Paris. 11. Jantar Mantar - The Jantar Mantar complex is a compound that houses 13 different astronomy instruments. The structures are confusing to look at, but if you read or follow a guide (or audio guide) you'll understand how each instrument functioned. 12. Qutub Minar - Just like Akshardham Temple, Qutub Minar is one of the top things to do in Delhi, it's truly remarkable. The minaret is the main attraction, a huge pillar of red carved sandstone that towers above the ancient ruins in the complex. 13. Humayun's Tomb - One of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Delhi is Humayun's Tomb, built in Mughal Islamic architecture. 14. Tomb of Safdarjung - Very similar to Humayun's tomb is the tomb of Safdarjung. What I really liked is that there were no other tourists the day I went so it was quite and peaceful. 15. Red Fort - Located near Chandni Chowk in Old Delhi is the Red Fort. It's an entire walled in city where you can walk around the browse the many buildings within the walls. 16. Raj Ghat - The Raj Ghat is a memorial park dedicated to Gandhi. 17. Chandni Chowk & Chawri Bazar - The liveliest and busiest area of Delhi is Chandni Chowk and Chawri Bazar. I think it's possible to purchase anything from the entire world in this area, and you'll also find lots of delicious food. 18. Dilli Haat - This handicraft village was set up by the Delhi tourism authority and it's a decent place to purchase souvenirs or high quality crafts. You'll also find a food court that contains canteens serving food from all over India. 19. Connaught Place (Rajiv Chowk) - Known for short as just CP is a huge series of roundabouts and is the central modern business district of Delhi. Within the area you'll find all sorts of shops, famous restaurants and the Palika Bazar, an underground shopping center. 20. Paharganj (Main Bazar) - The main bazar is located just west of the New Delhi railroad station and it's an old area of town where you'll find a market and lots of budget accommodation options. 21. Delhi Street Food - Eating street food is one of the best things to do in Delhi, you'll love it. Thank you for watching this Delhi travel guide video and hope you have a great trip to Delhi, India! 48 Hours in India: Delhi, Agra & Jaipur India is a country that would take an entire lifetime to fully explore, so when we set our sights on just 48 hours in India, we knew it would be a challenge. However, knocking out the Golden Triangle (Delhi, Jaipur, Agra) in a weekend might just be possible. TripVerse dared us to try and accomplish the feat and we took on the challenge, always up for proving adventure travel in exotic destinations is possible, even during a weekend trip. If you know us, you know we take any chance we can to travel, but spending 48 hours in India has been on our list for a long time, and with so many short, cheap flights to India from Dubai, it was only a matter of time before we took on the challenge. Using a three day weekend, we flew direct to Delhi and had a car and driver waiting for us. The Golden Triangle is one of the most popular tourist routes in India, allowing travelers to visit New Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur in just a few days time as all three cities are not only very close together, but vastly different. We knew we wanted to end the trip with Delhi, so we immediately landed and headed straight to Agra to visit the Taj Mahal, and tried to get there before sunrise to avoid the crowds. The Taj Mahal is just one of those sights that you can't really believe you are looking at, something you see 1,000 times in pictures and movies your entire life. As we arrived early enough, the entire site was void of crowds and covered in a layer of mist and fog. It was incredible to watch this amazing building emerge from the fog into all its glory as the sun broke. Take your time, explore the area from all angles and take the time to just sit down and stare at one of the most amazing buildings ever built. Remember: No camera tripods are allowed in, so make sure to check them at the entrance building before going in. You'll have to check your backpacks as well. One your way out of the Taj, walking down the street towards the entrance, just passed the Oberoi Villas is a hotel called "Taj Spice" which you cannot miss. Without any of the expense or fuss of such a fancy hotel, you can easily get up to their amazing rooftop cafe and sit outside while enjoying the same beautiful view people pay thousands for at the Oberoi. Their food is delicious and beer cold - and cheap! Check out our full 48 Hours in India itinerary on TripVerse for more detailed information on this and all the places we visited and recommend! On our way out of town, we stopped at the beautiful Agra Fort, which would easily the be the most stunning site in Agra if it weren't for the Taj Mahal. It is well worth the visit and a fraction of the price of the Taj. ($1 instead of $10) As soon as we wrapped up at the Agra Fort and the sun was setting it was on to Jaipur! We raced against the clock to make the 4-hour drive before it got to late and arrived at our hotel around 9 pm. A quick meal and we were off to sleep. We were exhausted but loving the adventure! No 48 hours trip to India should be without a visit to Jaipur if you are anywhere close. It might just be my favorite city in India. There is just something different about being in Rajasthan, the Pink City, as it is called. There is enough to fill 48 hours alone in Jaipur, but we really only had part of a day so we did all the exploring in the time we had and saw a ton! First, it was off to the old part of the city to visit the Jaipur Palace, one of the coolest and most detailed palaces we've ever seen. Make sure to make your way back to the hidden chamber with detailed and ornately decorated doorways honoring the four seasons. Make sure to have your camera ready, they are made for Instagram! Heading out of Jaipur, stop and visit the Floating Palace and the Elephant Village. We weren't interested in paying to ride or wash the elephants, just wanted to see them. If you drive down the road from the Elephant place, there is an actual village where each family cares for 2-3 elephants and this is really cool to see. Huge elephants and people living in harmony is a wonderful thing. Jumping back in the car with Prakash, we headed directly to the Amer (or Amber) Fort, which is one of the most amazing places we have ever seen that we never knew existed! TripVerse said we should make the trek all the way up the stairs to the top and thank god we did. The Amer Fort is SUCH an amazing place to explore and I am shocked we'd never heard of it before. We could have gotten lost here for hours, so make sure you take the time to just wander through the hidden hallways and secret... My favorite 15 Things to do when I'm traveling through Delhi India Subscribe to our channel: https://goo.gl/2OsFKV Get your Delhi ebook here: https://yetanothervisarun.com/product/new-delhi-guide/ THUMBS UP PLEASE! In this video, I'll review the top 15 things to do, see, and eat in Delhi India. If you're looking for things to do in Delhi India, you'll want to watch this video all the way through. From the best food places to the top sights to check out, I cover my favorite things to do in Delhi India on a budget. 1. Humayun's Tomb – An incredible tomb built by a grieving wife, complete with English-style gardens and even an elaborate tomb for the Emperor's favorite barber. This tomb was the main architectural influence for the Taj Mahal. 2. Eat Mughlai FoodEating traditional Indian medieval food is must when you're in Delhi! I recommend trying out a popular hangout called Al-Jawahar's restaurant for a true local experience. 3. Ride in a samosa – Riding around in a tuk tuk (an automatic rickshaw) is a great way to see the city from a bumpy perspective. Expect to pay slightly higher prices for the experience, but it's completely worth it. 4. Hauz Khas Complex - Located inside Hauz Khas Village, this ancient architectural site is preserved for the public to view. From hidden stairways to old tombs, this place has it all including a view of a the beautiful “Royal Tank” lake. 5. Jama Masjid – This is India's largest mosque and is located in the middle of Old Delhi. Climb the minaret for a nominal fee to see breathtaking views of Delhi. 6. Ride a bicycle rickshaw- Undoubtedly, a very fun experience and a quick and easy way to get around town. The bicycle rides are bumpy and fast, but always pleasurable. 7. The Royal Tank & Deer Park – A beautiful park located in Hauz Khas Village. Take a stroll on one of the many walking paths and admire the wild monkeys swinging from tree branches. 8. Chandni Chowk- Absolutely, a must-visit place for the insanity of it all! Thousands of vendors hawking clothing, jewelry, and snacks line up along the streets for one of Delhi's most amazing outdoor bazaars. 9. Red Fort – This Unesco World Heritage Site offers a stunning sight. Visit the museums on the grounds and take a tour of this ancient fortress dating back all the way to 1648! 10. Qutub MinarThe world's largest brick minaret stands here in Delhi. Wonderfully preserved and kept in pristine condition, this minaret is a jaw-dropping sight to behold. Make sure to visit the other ruins on the same grounds including the mosque and an unfinished minaret. Definitely one of the top things to do in Delhi India! 11. Lodi Gardens – Located in the quiet part of town, the Lodi Gardens is Delhi's great big escape. Whether you're coming here to take a job or have a Sunday picnic, it's always a terrific place to experience some nature and get away from the traffic. 12. Shopping at Hauz Khas Village – I love Hauz Khas Village, and I can't help but share my enthusiasm for this great little area. From surrounding parks and tombs to hipster bars and adorable tea rooms, Hauz Khas Village is the perfect place to experience nightlife in Delhi! 13. Street Food – Of course, any trip to Delhi would not be complete without tasting some delicious street food. 14. Mehrauli Archaeological Park – One of the most highly underrated tourist attractions in all of Delhi! This expansive park houses dozens of incredible archeological sights from ancient step-wells to forts dating back a thousand years ago. 15. Experience a dhaba – A dhaba is a whole in the wall eatery usually situated near a busy highway. I hope you enjoyed my 15 Things To Do in Delhi India video. With some great travel tips, Udayan helps you navigate through the exciting and overwhelming India. What are some practical and useful tips you should know when traveling to New Delhi, India or another city in India? Despite India developing rapidly, it still does not have most of the infrastructure and amenities that are so common in the western world. Following a few handy travel tips might make travel for you a whole lot easier while you are in India. First, if you are taking a taxi from the airport, make sure it is a registered taxi. The best option is to take a prepaid taxi. If that is not available, you should fix the price or make sure that the meter is working. Do not wait till reaching your destination for deciding on the price even if your driver insists on doing so. This applies not only the transportation from the airport but any transportation in gerneral. If you are traveling within India there are quite a few transportation options available. In India transportation ranges from the pragmatic to the imaginative. Within Delhi the metros the best way to travel. So if you are going somewhere, check if there is a metro route that can get you there. For short distances autos are generally a good bet. Unless the meter is not working. In which case you should find out what the correct rate is from the hotel you are staying at or from the person you are staying with. If you plan to be sight seeing throughout the day, it is probably a good idea to get an air conditioned cab like this one. Especially so if it is summer. These cabs are generally cheap but check on the prices with your hotel or with the person you are staying with. Just incase. You might want to rent your own car to drive around here. But if you are not used to the streets in Delhi, it is not a recommended option. Always try and get bottled water instead of tap water in this country. Bottled water is widely available. But when you are buying it make sure that the top is sealed. India has some great street food. But travelers should avoid eating it. If you are really keen, there is some upscale resturants that serve traditional fast food, that is actually hygenic. India has the finest hotels in the whole world. You will find attention and service here of levels far receding often those, even in the West. People here, from the concierge to the bell boy, will be more than willing to help you, even with your smallest bits of luggage. However, there is a slight catch. They all want to be tipped. Fortunately ten or tweenty rupee notes will do the trick, sometimes. This here is a tweenty rupee note. This is a ten rupee note. This is hundred and this is five hundred. It is always a good idea to have as many as possible of these, that is a ten rupee ad a tweenty rupee note, for tipping and for just about everything else. When you ask somebody for dirrections it is always a good idea to ask somebody else, just to confirm. It is not that somebody wants to give you wrong dirrections or wants to ruin your day, it is just that sometimes people want to be way too helpful. Most upscale and midscale hotels in the country provide you with basic accessories, like tissue paper and toilet paper. However, if you are putting up in one of those cheaper or small town accomodations you might not want to take these things for granted. All these essentials are available widely across the country. In general stores like the one behind my back. In India, getting your laundry done is not a hastle at all. Laundry takes a day. And the shirts can be ironed within the space of a few minutes. You need not worry about your laundry because it will not take more than a dollar. Getting your shirts wrinkled up is not too much of a hastle. Always bargin in the market place. Unless you are in a fixed price shop. It is not a good idea to give beggers around the place money. Even if you are tempted too. It just incourages the wrong sort of placement. And anyways the money always goes to someone else and not exactly the person you paid the money. Avoid going to quiet and lonely areas if you are a woman. Dressing conservative is probably the best option. Medical help here is cheaper than any place else and widely available, at least in the cities. However, get a medical refference, like you get anywhere else, before you go to the facility. When you are traveling back, I will equate enough time to make sure that you get to the airport on time. Even when you travel back late at night you are likely to encounter a traffic jam. Especially when you are traveling from central Delhi to say the airport. Take about an hour at hand but buffer some time in for traffic jams. With these tips you can enjoy a more comfortable, safer and healthier stay in the country. And get around to what is the most important, enjoying the immense beauty and culture you find here. This is Udayan showing you India.

Delhi Tourism Video - Delhi Tourism is the tourism of one vertex of Golden Triangle of tourism of India. Delhi Tourism video incorporates brief information about Delhi tourism places. Main places of tourist attraction during Delhi tourism include Red Fort (Lal Qila), Humayun's Tomb, Qutub Minar, India Gate, Jantar Mantar, Raj Ghat, Lotus Temple and Gurudwara Bangla Sahib. Delhi tourism is the tourism of the capital city of India. Delhi tourism is also remarkable because Delhi is one vertex of Golden triangle of tourism of India. There are many places to visit in Delhi. Here, we are giving brief information of few of the world famous tourist places of Delhi. The Red Fort or Lal Qila is one of Delhi's top tourist sights. It is a red sandstone fort built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as his ruling palace. Red fort was built in 1648. One of the political importances of Red fort is that the Prime minister of India hoists flag every year on Independence Day from Red Fort. Humayun's Tomb is one of Delhi's three UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The centerpiece is the eponymous tomb of Humayun. Built starting in 1562, it was the first major Mughal structure in the city and has been described as a prototype of Agra's Taj Mahal. The structures are, indeed, stylistically similar, although Humayun's Tomb is built from red sandstone, not white marble, and was built by a wife grieving for her husband, not the other way around. Qutub Minar is the most famous structure on grounds. This 72.5 m minaret was the tallest "skyscraper" in the world when built. It was constructed on the orders of Qutb-ud-din Aybak. It is one of the wonders of India. India Gate is a monument which was built as a memorial for the Indian soldiers who died in 1st World War. There is also a fire ("eternal flame") burning for all fallen Indian soldiers. Jantar Mantar is one of five astronomical observatories constructed by Sawai Jai Singh II of Jaipur during the 18th century. Huge masonry structures inside Jantar Mantar are enormous scientific instruments for measuring the movement of celestial bodies. Raj Ghat is a Memorial to Mahatma Gandhi at the site of his cremation. It is a black marble platform that marks the spot of Mahatma Gandhi's cremation. It is left open to the sky while an eternal flame burns perpetually at one end. Lotus Temple of Delhi is a world famous temple. It is shaped like a lotus bud with 27 petals. This stunning temple suspended above milky-blue ponds is surely one of the most magnificent monuments ever made from concrete. Gurudwara Bangla Sahib is the main Gurudwara for the Sikhs of Delhi. The pond inside its complex is known as the "Sarovar", whose water is considered holy by Sikhs and is known as "Amrit". It was built in 1783.
